MY APPROACH

Client-First, True-to-Life storytelling for modern, intentional couples.

I want your experience with me to feel seamless and tailored to who you are as a couple - specifically because this is the foundation for creating photos that reflect who you are and how your wedding actually felt.

One way I do this is through thoughtful and thorough preparation.  During our meetings, at your engagement session, in my questionnaires, I get to know you - your energy, vision, etc. I help you craft a timeline. I learn about the wedding choices you’ve made and the names of your most cherished people. This preparation helps me tell your unique story - and create a stress-free wedding day so you can relax and enjoy the moments you’ve been planning.

I'm an "experience first" photographer: i value my clients' experience above all elsE.

client-first

My overall approach to wedding photography is to observe the day as it unfolds rather than directing every moment. This allows the emotions, genuine connections and flow of your day to be reflected in your photos.

Obviously, I step in when necessary, and practically speaking, creating a seamless, stress-free day for you requires me to alternate between being hands-on and hands-off depending on the moment. Keen observation helps me here too because I pick up on what you may need at any point.

And I am absolutely open to special requests (I ask this specifically), and I want to know about the things that matter to you. This helps me understand and document your wedding day in a way that feels familiar and reflects who you are.

I TELL YOUR UNIQUE STORY, THROUGH KEEN OBSERVATION.

telling your story

My photography aesthetic and editing process are true-to-life.  This ensures that your photos reflect you and your actual day. To do this, I adjust exposure, contrast, color cast and cropping - bringing out the best of what is already there. Skin tones appear natural, a golden sunset stays golden, and a cloudy sky stays…well, cloudy.

Obviously, every couple is different. So your photos will reflect the specific energy of your day and relationship, but here are some things I strive for:

True-to-life = bringing out the best of what is already there.

Clean Compositions

Accurate exposureS and skin tones

Natural Light

I shoot primarily natural and available light because it’s beautiful, quick, and unobtrusive, and I often embrace serendipitous things like lens flare.

Aesthetically, I strive for accurate exposures and colors, and natural skin tones.

I seek out and prefer uncluttered compositions - even while I use a documentary and storytelling approach to the day.

true-to-life

I think many folks find it scary to trust a stranger (yes, a seasoned professional - but still) to follow them around with a camera and do this important thing for them. It requires a leap of faith for couples (in a way that other vendor bookings do not). It can feel vulnerable and anxiety inducing. And it's not like hiring a doctor or accountant, because photography is both subjective and creative.

Obviously, it's important to like my overall work when you book me - BUT I also want you to know that you can trust and rely on me. For example, if you love a photo - but something about it bugs you,  - I call this the "oh, that’s gonna bother me" feeling - I want you to know that you can talk to me about it.

Essentially, hiring a wedding photographer requires a leap of faith, and I want you to know that I'm on your team.

FILM PHOTOGRAPHY

If you are interested in capturing your wedding day as a treasured but fleeting experience between you and your loved ones (and you have it in your budget) adding film is a lovely, serendipitous way to do that.
