A Rainy, Barefoot, Carefree Wedding at The Guild in Pawtucket – Libby + Devlin

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when two ecologists, a room full of flowers, great beer, and a little rain come together—this Fall Wedding at The Guild in Pawtucket is your answer. Libby and Devlin’s day was relaxed, heartfelt, a little muddy (in the best way), and completely them. Think: barefoot ceremony, vintage dress, lawn chairs, live music, and zero stress about the weather. Honestly? A dream.

Libby and Devlin met in college and now live in Maine, where they’re surrounded by trees, animals, and plants—fitting, since Libby works with flowers and Devlin is an arborist. Rhode Island still holds Libby’s roots, though, which is why they chose to get married here, close to family and familiar places.

The day began at Libby’s childhood home, where she invited forty of her closest friends to get ready with her. Forty! The house—still her parents’—is overflowing with art, quirky objects, and meaningful little details, which made it the perfect backdrop for a joyful, slightly chaotic, love-filled morning. There was laughter in every room, people perched on stairs and couches, and that unmistakable buzz that happens when everyone knows something special is about to unfold.

From there, everything moved to The Guild in Pawtucket, setting the tone for an easygoing wedding at a brewery. Rain fell on and off throughout the day, but no one seemed bothered. If anything, it slowed things down in a good way—more time to talk, to listen to the music, to sip a beer and take it all in. Documentary wedding photography is all about these in-between moments, and Libby and Devlin’s day was full of them.

The ceremony itself was peak hippie joy. Shoes came off almost immediately, and guests were encouraged to do the same. Lawn chairs dotted the space, flowers by Sweet Talk Floral spilled everywhere (easily some of the most stunning floral design I’ve seen in years), and a live band set the mood. Libby wore a vintage dress from Happy Isles Salon that felt timeless and perfectly suited to the day—effortless, elegant, and a little whimsical.

Once the formalities wrapped up, the party really began. Between the live music, excellent food, flowing beer, and guests who were very ready to dance, the energy stayed high well into the night. Rain or not, the dance floor was packed, shoes remained optional, and the whole thing felt like one big, happy exhale.

Libby and Devlin’s wedding was a reminder that you don’t need perfection to have a meaningful day. You just need intention, community, and a willingness to roll with whatever shows up—weather included. The Guild Pawtucket was the perfect backdrop for that kind of celebration.
