When I think about Alex and Brendan’s February wedding at the Newport Harbor Island Resort, the first word that comes to mind is unforgettable. From the moment I arrived at the venue, it was clear that this day was going to be equal parts elegant and wildly fun—probably my favorite combo.
Set right on the water in Newport, Rhode Island, the Newport Harbor Island Resort was the perfect backdrop for this mid-winter celebration. The day started with both Alex and Brendan getting ready on site—cue beautiful window light, a few happy tears, and all the anticipation buzzing in the air.
After a sweet first look at the resort, the couple hopped on a trolley with their wedding party and headed to the Belcourt of Newport for portraits. If you’re not familiar with Belcourt—imagine historic grandeur, jaw-dropping architecture, and just a hint of mysterious fairytale energy. Add in a stunning group of friends, some windswept laughs, and Brendan literally helping Alex move around, and you’ve got a portrait session that felt like magic.
Because yes—Alex BROKE HER ANKLE a week before the wedding. (I know. Iconic.) And you’d think that would put a damper on the day, right? Nope. Brendan, their friends, and the entire wedding crew rallied to make the day amazing. It honestly felt like everyone was operating on pure love and support energy the whole time.
Back at the resort, the ballroom was prepped for a stunning ceremony, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the harbor. As the sun dipped low and cast everything in a golden glow, Alex and Brendan said their vows in front of their people. It was romantic, heartfelt, and honestly? A little misty-eyed all around. Also, both rings – AND – friendship bracelets were exchanged.
Then came the entrance. At the reception, Alex and Brendan rolled in on scooters (yes, scooters) to Ridin’ by Chamillionaire—and the place absolutely lost it. People were laughing, cheering, hyping them up like they just won the Super Bowl. That moment alone perfectly captured who these two are as a couple: stylish, fun-loving, and all about lifting each other up (sometimes literally).
Their reception was a mix of emotional toasts, killer – and a bit limpy – dance moves, and genuine connection. Their friend group? Gorgeous. Fun. Down-to-earth. It was such a joy getting to document everyone in their element, just fully present and celebrating the heck out of this love story.
As a Newport wedding photographer, I absolutely love working at Newport Harbor Island Resort. It’s one of those venues that really has it all—water views, elegant interiors, and a layout that makes the day flow beautifully from start to finish. Also, the team there is outstanding. Whether you’re planning an intimate gathering or a bigger bash, it just works. Plus, from a photography perspective? Dreamy light, tons of variety, and it’s super close to iconic spots like Belcourt and downtown Newport.
