If you’re dreaming of a Spring wedding at The Bohlin Newport, Christie and Mitch’s May celebration is proof that a little rain can’t dampen a truly joyful day. In fact, it might even make it better.
Earlier in the year, we photographed their engagement session on the beach—golden light, salty air, windswept hair, the whole romantic Newport vibe. Which turned out to be perfect planning… because their wedding day brought some classic New England spring rain. Not all day (thankfully!), but enough to keep things interesting.
Christie and Mitch got ready together at the elegant La Farge Perry House, and honestly, it was ideal. The interiors are chic, historic, and thoughtfully designed—perfect for relaxed group photos without anyone feeling staged or stiff.
Because they chose to get ready in the same space, the whole morning felt calm and collaborative. No rushing between locations. No unnecessary stress. Just a lot of laughter, champagne pours, and a steady stream of international guests arriving (Mitch grew up in Saudi Arabia, so the guest list was wonderfully global).
And in one of the most Newport entrances of all time? Mitch arrived at the venue later by pontoon boat with his groomsmen. Iconic.
The rain lingered through the early part of the day, but here’s the thing: Christie is a doctor. Truly nothing fazed her. Weather? Logistics? Timeline shifts? She handled it all with the calm confidence of someone who deals with much bigger things daily.
By ceremony time, the skies cooperated just enough for them to exchange vows outside at The Bohlin Newport. And if you’ve ever been there, you know how special that harbor backdrop is. Boats drifting behind them, soft spring air, guests bundled just slightly—it was romantic in that understated, very-Newport way.
From the beginning, Christie and Mitch made it clear: the focus was the event, not a marathon of posed portraits. They cared more about being present with their people than curating a shot list. As a candid wedding photographer, this is my love language.
So we kept portraits relaxed and organic. Instead of stiff poses, we leaned into movement, conversation, and letting them just be themselves. The result? Photos that feel alive. You can see the way they look at each other mid-laugh. The way Mitch instinctively reaches for Christie’s hand. The way their friends absolutely lost it on the dance floor.
That’s the magic of a Spring wedding at The Bohlin Newport—it’s elegant without trying too hard.
The design team at Exquisite Events Decor created a reception space that felt fresh and refined, perfectly suited to the waterfront setting. Florals by Floral Designs by Donna brought in soft spring textures and color without overpowering the space.
Christie wore a stunning gown from Alexandra Grecco Bridal—modern, effortless, and completely her. Hair and makeup by Curl Up & Dye held up beautifully (even with coastal humidity in the mix).
And once the party started, Wilson Stevens made sure no one stayed seated for long. The dance floor was full. The energy was high. The kind of night where you look around and think, “Yep. This is exactly what they hoped for.”
It worked because Christie and Mitch trusted the process. They didn’t panic about rain. They didn’t over-schedule portraits. They built a day around connection—and that always photographs beautifully.
If you’re planning your own Spring wedding at The Bohlin Newport, take this as your gentle reminder: focus on the experience. Choose vendors you trust. Leave room for real moments. The rest falls into place.
Rain or shine.
